Protective Bicycle Helmet:Sweden

Hövding - INNOVATIVE DESIGN FROM SWEDEN

Designed by Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, the following photographs depict protective-wear for bicyclists.

Worn around the neck, as a collar, the Hövding is made of an ultra strong nylon fabric, "that won't rip when scraped against asphalt." Acting similar to an automobile air-bag, the helmet inflates, using senors which pick up abrupt, abnormal movement.

As seen, below, the transformative collar can be fashionably changed to enhance any outfit - with new styles created, on occasion.

Both Ms. Haupt and Ms. Alstin are educated as Industrial Designers and developed the idea while working on their master's thesis.
